Michael McGoldrick & Tim Edey

Two extraordinary musicians. One very special weekend at Lowender

Michael McGoldrick and Tim Edey come together at Lowender for a weekend of exceptional live music and two rare opportunities to learn directly from them.

Virtuosity, friendship and a little musical magic

Michael McGoldrick and Tim Edey are two of the most celebrated musicians in folk and traditional music, both recognised as BBC Folk Awards Musicians of the Year.

Michael is a master of flute, whistles and uilleann pipes whose career has taken him from founding Lúnasa and playing with Capercaillie to the Transatlantic Sessions and more than 15 years performing with Mark Knopfler. His music reaches far beyond the boundaries of traditional Irish music, drawing on jazz, funk, African and Indian influences.

Guitarist and melodeon player Tim Edey has toured with some of the great names in traditional music, including The Chieftains, Seamus Begley, Brendan Power and Natalie MacMaster. Tim and Michael first met at Rochester Sweeps Festival in 1996, beginning a musical friendship that now spans three decades.
