It’s been a few years since Irish Set Dancing has taken to the floor at Lowender, and we’re delighted to welcome it back for 2026.
Join Kevin and Carol Monaghan of SetsMad Dancing, with live music from KRELYS, for a weekend of Irish sets, great music and good company in the heart of Redruth.
Whether you’re a seasoned set dancer, a little rusty, or completely new to it, you’ll be very welcome on the dance floor.

Kevin and Carol Monaghan have been dancing together for more than 25 years, after meeting at a set dancing class run by Joe O’Hara.
Together they created SetsMad Dancing, initially as a way to showcase some of the less often danced sets of Ireland. What began as a simple idea grew into a whole weekend of dancing, bringing people together from far and wide for live music, dancing and friendship.
Kevin and Carol are passionate about keeping the distinctive regional styles of Irish Set Dancing alive. Inspired by Joe’s careful teaching, they believe in being “in the right place, at the right time, and by the correct route”.
We’re delighted to welcome them to Lowender to lead our Irish Set Dancing workshops and Saturday night céilí.
Meet Krelys
Bringing the live music to our Irish Set Dance workshops and Saturday Night Céilí are Krelys, a Cornish band with a love of high energy Irish traditional music.
They’ll be keeping feet moving across the weekend, providing the live soundtrack as Kevin and Carol put us through our paces.
We’re delighted to have them joining Kevin and Carol across the weekend and keeping the Lowender dance floor moving.
make a weekend of it
Irish Set Dancing is just part of a packed weekend at Lowender. Across Redruth you’ll find live music, dancing, workshops, sessions and performances bringing together Celtic traditions from Cornwall and beyond.
